Different Issues When You Get Married
Filed Under (Marriage) by Guest Author on 20-08-2010
“You will find two sides to any story. These two sides make this more interesting. In fact, the issue exists and remains because of the support that is given to each side – the pro and the con.
When it comes to the relationship between men and women, the presence of one complements the other. This means that there are qualities that the other posses that aren’t found on the partner. These qualities complement each other. However, many couples crumble because both the man and the woman could not find it in their heart to appreciate both the strengths and the weaknesses of the other.
Let’s take a look at the two sides of the marriage issue. One side says it is just a piece of paper. The cons for this side can be rationalized by the following:
1. Once you’ve affixed your signature on a piece of paper, you can change it by signing another piece of paper. This side believes that marriage is controlled by the couple – how strong or how weak they are attached to each other. Just like paper, marriage is disposable.
2. Marriage is not permanent. The marriage contract is not the basis for the union. What happens within the union will determine if the couple will continue living together.
3. Getting married, therefore, is not the reason that couples hold on to each other. Even marriage cannot keep a crumbling relationship.
4. People grow and change physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Differences will arise in relationships because of these. The marriage one has cannot save a relationship negatively affected by these changes.
There are those, however, who believe in the sanctity of marriage. This side says that it is a force that binds the relationship. Here are the pros for this side:
1. Marriage is a sacrament. The Church makes it possible, hence, “”what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”"
2. When a couple gets married, it becomes a seal of approval. Marriage is the symbolism of one’s love to the partner.
3. Marriage strengthens the bond since it puts a legal seal of oneness between the couple.
4. Whether in legal aspects or religious aspects, marriage makes a family authentic.
There is always a side the couples believe in and we may never fully understand why they picked such side.
