Astral Projection Methods For The Absolute Beginner

Filed Under (Meditation) by Guest Author on 25-07-2010

The methods of astral projection vary, but each requires that an individual quiet his or her mind before attempting any subsequent steps in the process. Proper, focused relaxation is necessary in reaching beyond the physical limitations and exploring the multifaceted universe around us, and although this may seem an effortless endeavor, it is anything but.

Getting into a relaxed state that is still focused is not an easy task. You have to relax all the muscles in your body while keeping your mind alert and conscious. Most attempts at astral projection do not work because the person is not able to stay focused while also being completely relaxed and the result is the person ends up asleep.

Begin the focused relaxation phase by first dressing in comfortable clothing, then sitting in a chair where it is unlikely one will be disturbed. Lying down is not recommended for beginners, as it is too easy to lose one’s grasp on his or her concentration and give in to the pulls of sleep.

Once seated comfortably, imagine that tension is a fabric bandage that has been wrapped over every inch of the body — much like a mummy – that tightly constricts even the smallest of toes. Next, imagine those small toes being unwrapped. Warm blood flow returns, as does the feeling of cool air to the skin’s surface. Imagine the same process for each individual toe until all ten toes have been “freed.”

Imagine next the balls of the feet, the arches, the heels and the ankles also being unwrapped in this way. Continue the process until the chin, the sinus cavities of the face, and the tip of the scalp are all free.

Once this phase is completed, an individual is ready to execute one of the various methods of astral projection explained below.

One of the main astral projection methods is called the rope method. This requires a little preparation before you start the relaxation phase. Tack a rope above you so it is within reach. It will help with the mental visualization as you can reach up and touch it as needed.

Hanging the rope will let you easily find it with your astral fingers. You will float to the rope and use it as a guide once you are relaxed. In the beginning it can be a little tricky to find the rope, but after a while you will have no trouble doing so. Just remember to be focused.

Find the rope and picture your astral body leaving your physical body and climbing the rope. Your astral body doesn’t weight anything so give no consideration to weight. Stay focused on climbing and moving up the rope. You may become a bit dizzy, but try not to focus on that as it could mess up the projection.

Climb on up the rope until your astral body is free. You should not focus on any of the feelings you may have. You may feel dizzy or tingling or warm. All these things are just a art of the process and completely normal when it comes to astral projection.

Variations of the rope method include the lift method, in which one visualizes him or herself pulling upward from the physical body and hovering above it; the roll out method, in which an individual envisions him or herself rolling to either side of the physical body (works best when lying down), as well as the fixed and moving anchor method.

The fixed method and anchor method involved picturing an object. In the fixed method you are pulling your astral body to the object and in the anchor method the object is pulling your astral body to it. Once you are free your astral body can then roam and explore.

It’s important to know that as with any new endeavor, it takes time and practice to learn this process, so it’s important to remain positive if one’s first attempts at astral projection do not succeed. An unsuccessful attempt may be due to a variety of causes such as too much stimuli in the room, insufficient relaxation, or just the opposite, too much exhaustion in the body to control at a particular time.

It really helps for you to be very dedicated to astral projection. With dedication you will notice problems easier, master your astral projection methods and be able to really go beyond your physical body and explore the universe.

Filed Under (Meditation) by Guest Author on 30-06-2010

Chakras are the foci within our bodies where the energy which makes up our life force is generated. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel; a good representation of the spherical energy field the word refers to.

There are six main chakras that are stacked in a column along a person’s spine, and there is a seventh that is above them, beyond the physicality of the body.

We think of these Chakras as being composed of energy; but it is very important to realize that the Chakras are closely related to and have influence over your physical body.

A healthy alignment of all of the seven Chakras will allow you to maintain your own health and happiness during your life. It is important to understand what each of the chakras is, and what it does for you.

Muladhara

The Muladhara is the Chakra of your lower body. This Chakra is responsible for your survival instinct and other related primal behaviors. Located in the perineum, the Muladhara relates to the potentiality of human life.

This is the Chakra which corresponds to the adrenal glands in the physical body and produces the fight or flight response.

Swadhisthana

The Swadhisthana is the reproductive Chakra, also known as the sacral Chakra. This Chakra corresponds to the genitalia and controls sexuality and the creative urge.

This is the Chakra which controls the sex hormones as well. This Chakra also is responsible for mood swings, It’s symbol is a six-petal lotus.

Manipura

The Manipura is the located in navel and is the solar plexus Chakra. This Chakra affects the transitory emotions between base and complex emotions. This Chakra controls energy flow, digestion and corresponds to the pancreas in the physical body.

The Manipura plays an important role in the way that food is converted into energy. It is symbolized by a ten petal lotus.

Anahata

The Anahata is the heart. This Chakra is responsible for love and other complex emotions, as well as your sense of equilibrium and well being overall. This Chakra corresponds to the thymus gland (located in the chest) and the immune system in the physical body.

This symbol of this Chakra is a twelve petal lotus

Vishuddha

The Vishudda is the throat. Symbolized by a sixteen petal lotus, it is in charge of both communication and growth. It is paralleled to the thyroid, and does the same thing.

It also controls your powers of communication and corresponds to the thyroid gland in the physical body.

Ajna

The Anja is the eyebrow or the forehead. It is also considered to be the third eye. This chakra is in charge of being a model of its own envisioning. This is the chakra of time, light, and of awareness.

This is the Chakra with the vital function of governing the sleep cycle. This Chakra is symbolized by a two petal lotus.

Sahasrara

The Sahasrara is the seventh and final Chakra. The Sahasrara is the most important of all Chakras. This Chakra governs consciousness and as such, it is also important to every other Chakra and every system in the human body. This Chakra corresponds to the pituitary gland in the physical body. Getting an Insight into Our Chakra System

Filed Under (Meditation) by Guest Author on 26-12-2009

Chakrology is a term introduced by practitioners of alternative medicine and New Age philosophers to describe the study of the chakra system, the human bodys energy processing centers identified almost four thousand years ago by the Ancient Hindus.

There are seven major energy centers among the several thousands that make up our chakra system. These seven major chakra points are the doorways of energy that we gather from our environment and surroundings (including other individuals) that make up the complete person that we are in terms of spirituality, physical and mental existence as a human being.

The seven major chakra points of the bodys chakra system each possesses a unique purpose which in turn influences a particular feature of our existence. Even if they are separate and independent from each other, they work in mutual assistance of each other to bring about our well being, physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally.

Although there are various models of the human bodys chakra system they have one thing in common, all models depict an uncanny illustration of the human bodys endocrine system and how the various endocrine glands chemically signal and communicate to one another.

The common representation of our major chakras is a straight ascending line along the spinal column from the base to the top of the head. Modern representations go one step further and assign the primary colors of the color wheel to each of the seven major energy points for a better illustration and to depict particular energy representations as colors symbolize different energy levels as well.

Although the energy points of our chakra system can not be seen, they are considered as extensions or invisible gateways to the endocrine glands that they correspond to. A chakric malfunction whether benign or not, directly affects our endocrinal system and therefore our body. Since they are the gateways of energy to and from our body, any blockages can result in our illness as well and an imbalance of our health.

Our bodys energy centers play a very important role in our well being ” both physically and spiritually.

Since the chakra system is the principal processing center for every facet of our self, any interruption, obstruction or dysfunction or fault in the flow of energy in the chakras usually results to illnesses or disorders in our body, mind or spirit. A malfunction of the energy flow through any of the seven major chakras results in a corresponding reaction to specific areas of the body which generally affects the entire individual. The reason for this is because energy fields are generally holistic in nature and can not be separate from its complementary component parts; a malfunction of one affects the others in one way or another.

It is widely accepted that only five of our seven energy centers possess both an active and passive quality. These are the second to the sixth energy centers. Of the seven, the first and seventh energy centers do not have this active/passive quality inherent in the other five. This first and seventh chakra points are the ones that initially receive more energy than others.

This even makes it more important to realize the functions of our chakra system and how to manipulate them to our advantage in order for them to send and receive energy in equal amounts.

Fight Your Insomnia With Meditation

Filed Under (Meditation) by Guest Author on 17-02-2009

If you’re having trouble sleeping at night, you might want to consider taking up meditation. Practicing meditation can help you get a sounder and more refreshing sleep so that you’ll have more energy and ability to concentrate in the morning. It also has benefits for people who have sleep difficulties because it relaxes the muscles and soothes the mind so that they fall asleep more easily.

A lot of people, for a variety of reasons, may try taking numerous different pills. However, you should know that with sleeping pills, you run the risk of interrupted sleep and daytime drowsiness. If you decide to use meditation instead of medication, it takes practice to learn the techniques that work for your body in particular, so be patient.

You can meditate in many different ways, such as using music, or not using music, lighting candles, or trying a more intense technique of yoga meditation by sitting quietly and letting your mind wander. Easy meditation will help to reduce your stress and anxiety, so that you get a better night’s sleep.

There are several tips to help you reach better results with your meditation. You could try utilizing techniques such as a mantra, which is a positive phrase repeated aloud or in your mind, listening to relaxing CDs, or focusing on deep breathing exercises. When negative thoughts creep into your head and interrupt your meditation, try sweeping them away, making room for positive thoughts.

You can more easily practice meditation techniques when you create an atmosphere that enables you to focus and shut out distractions. Try the following tips.

1. Meditation can be done anywhere as long as it a quiet place, free of distractions. There should not be anything to distract you such as television, phones and other annoyances.

2. Make yourself comfortable. Sit in a position in which you feel relaxed. You can use cushions or pillows if you prefer. Take off your shoes and make sure you are in light, easy flowing clothing instead of something binding and uncomfortable.

3. Get relaxed. Just close you eyes and let your mind begin to wander. If you want you can picture peaceful scenes in your mind to assist in your meditation.

4. Take a deep breath. Inhale deeply and rhythmically, while concentrating on the air being drawn in and exiting your body with each breath. Stress relief and increasing your oxygen levels can be achieved by these deep breathing techniques.

In order to get a good night’s sleep, try practicing meditation for 10 to 15 minutes before you go to bed. This should help improve your sleep patterns, and leave you feeling nice and refreshed for the day ahead.
